On The Road, searching for Gems in South West Africa. The Green Garnet known as Demantoid, has a mystic hue. It is one of the most brilliant gemstones that exist, yet until recently it was little known except among collectors and gemstone lovers. Thanks to Stephan Reif (no relation, but same last name), he has brought it to market.
The
Green Dragon Mine he owns is currently the biggest and only commercial mine for Demantoid garnets in the world. Located in central Namibia, the mining area, extends over more then 100,000 hectares producing one of the most precious & valuable colored stones.
